Château Le Grand Verdus, Bordeaux
|
|

Château
Le Grand Verdus is one of the most renowned
Château of the
Entre-Deux-Mers
region,
dated from 1579 and in the same family for 5 generations. Three generations of Le Grix de la Salle
family members work together at the estate: grandfather Phillipe, father Antoine
and sons Thomas and Edouard. It is
one of the leading estates in the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation, situated in
the hills of the right bank of the Garonne. The family vineyards now cover some 87
hectares in the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation, located between Saint-Emilion,
Médoc and Graves at the gateway to Entre-Deux-Mers (between two rivers, the
Garonne and the Dordogne), 20 km east of Bordeaux. The vineyard sites are located more than
80 metres above sea level on largely clay limestone on the slopes, gravel-clay
on the top of the rises, and clay-silt at the foot of the hills and on the
plateaux. The variation of
microclimates complements their plantings to Merlot (60%), Cabernet Sauvignon
(25%) and Cabernet-Franc (15%). The
vineyards are managed according to environmentally friendly practices, called Agriculture Raisonnée (a holistic,
sustainable, regulated agricultural approach).
Château
Le Grand Verdus has amassed numerous awards and accolades. The Bordeaux Supérieur ‘Tradition’ won a

Medal at
the Concours

The 2008 Bordeaux Blanc was awarded a Gold
Medal at
